CALL TO ORDER:  Mayor Pro-Tem Elaine Tucker called the tentative budget hearing to order at 5:35 p.m. in Town Hall chambers.  She led the “Pledge of Allegiance” to the Flag.

Others in attendance:  Town Manager Tom Burns, Maintenance Supervisor Jeff Dowda, Town Attorney representative Lisa Spencer and BFI representative Jackie Pilcher.

PURPOSE OF THE HEARING:  To present the first readings of the proposed millage rate and budget for fiscal year 2002-2003.

HEARING ITEMS:

1.     FIRST PUBLIC READING OF ORDINANCE 2003-01 SETTING MILLAGE RATE FOR FISCAL YEAR 2002-2003 – Mayor Pro-Tem Elaine Tucker presented the first reading of Ordinance 2003-01.  Commissioner Henderson moved to approve Ordinance 2003-01 as read.  The motion was seconded by Commissioner Reeves and it passed unanimously.

2.     FIRST PUBLIC READING OF ORDINANCE 2003-02 ESTABLISHING THE BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEAR 2002-2003 – Mayor Pro-Tem Elaine Tucker presented the first reading of Ordinance 2003-02.  Commissioner Henderson moved to approve Ordinance 2003-02 as read.  The motion was seconded by Commissioner McCallister and it passed unanimously.

3.     BUDGET DISCUSSION – Mayor Pro-Tem Tucker asked Town Manager Tom Burns to secure approval from our accountants for an encumbered funds account for the Clifford/Cherokee Road project.

ADJOURNMENT: Commissioner Henderson moved to adjourn at 5:42 p.m.   The motion was seconded by Commissioner McCallister and it passed unanimously.
