CALL TO ORDER:  The regular meeting of the Shalimar Planning and Zoning Board was called to order by Chairman Eddie Phillips on Wednesday, January 30, 2002 in the Town Hall chambers  at 6:35 p.m.  He also led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

ROLL CALL FOR THE RECORD:

Others present were Mayor Gary Combs, Ruth Phillips, Glenn Wagner, Pat McLain, Sandee Dave McLain, Commissioners Elaine Tucker, John Henderson, Ricardo Garcia, Town Clerk Tom Burns, Tina Smith and Johann Behnken.

OLD BUSINESS:

APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES OF THE AUG. 29, 2001 MEETING -- Roy Pimental moved to approve the minutes of the Aug. 29, 2001 meeting as written.  It was seconded by Rik Larson and passed unanimously.

NEW BUSINESS:

I.          FORMAL RESIGNATION OF CHAIRMAN PHILLIPS – Chairman Phillips said it was kind of a sad moment for him to resign after 10 years on the P & Z. He felt it was a great experience for him to help neighbors, to improve the community and bring greater harmony to the residents of Shalimar.

II.        ANNOUNCEMENT OF APPOINTMENTS – Mayor Combs nominated Jimmy Jones as new board chairman and Glenn Wagner as a new board member.

III.       SWEARING IN – ALL P&Z MEMBERS – Some of the old members were reconfirmed and the new members installed in a ceremony by Mayor Combs.

IV.       ELECTION OF BOARD VICE CHAIRMAN – The first function of the new board chairman was to elect a vice chairman. Roy Pimental was named and accepted the new position.

V.        RECOGNITION OF PAST CHAIRMAN PHILLIPS – Mayor Combs presented Eddie Phillips a large plaque for his outstanding service to the Town of Shalimar and wished him well on his new endeavors

    February 12, 2002  - Commission Meeting at 6 p.m. at Town Hall

    February 27, 2002  - Next regular P & Z meeting at 6:30 p.m. at Town Hall (if required)  

ADJOURNMENT:  Ursel Behnken moved to adjourn the meeting at 6:55 p.m. It was seconded by Rik Larson and passed unanimously. It was followed by a reception for Eddie Phillips.
