Tentative Budget Hearing, FY 2003-2004

September 9, 2003

 

 

CALL TO ORDER:  Mayor Gary Combs called the first Tentative Budget hearing to order at 5:31 p.m. in Town Hall chambers.  He led the “Pledge of Allegiance” to the Flag.

 

ROLL CALL FOR THE RECORD:

          Mayor Gary Combs :  present

          Mayor Pro-Tem Rik Larson :  present

          Commissioner Ursel Behnken:  present

          Commissioner Kevin Reeves :  present

          Commissioner Jerry McCallister :  present

 

Others in attendance:  Town Manager Tom Burns and Police Chief Charles Self.

 

PURPOSE OF THE HEARING:  To present the first readings of the proposed millage rate and budget for fiscal year 2003-2004.

 

HEARING ITEMS:

 

1.     FIRST PUBLIC READING OF ORDINANCE 2004-01 SETTING MILLAGE RATE FOR FISCAL YEAR 2003-2004 – Mayor Gary Combs presented the first reading of Ordinance 2004-01.  There was some question as to the “calendar year 2003” reference.  Commissioner Behnken moved to approve Ordinance 2004-01 as amended.  The motion was seconded by Commissioner McCallister and it passed unanimously.

 

2.     FIRST PUBLIC READING OF ORDINANCE 2004-02 ESTABLISHING THE BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEAR 2003-2004 – Mayor Gary Combs presented the first reading of Ordinance 2004-02.  Commissioner Larson moved to approve Ordinance 2004-02 as read.  The motion was seconded by Commissioner Behnken and it passed unanimously.

 

3.     BUDGET DISCUSSION – Commissioner McCallister went over changes to the budget with the Commission.  One of the changes was $600 added for the County Library cooperative membership for Shalimar Residents.  It was suggested to include that information in the September Tidbits.

 

Final Budget Hearing – SEPTEMBER 18, 2003 at 5:30 p.m.

 

Commissioner Behnken and Mayor Combs will not be in town for the next budget hearing scheduled for September 18, 2003 .  Manager Burns asked that if any of the remaining 3 commissioners would not be able to attend, please inform him as soon as possible so that he can change the ad. 

 

ADJOURNMENT: Commissioner Larson moved to adjourn at 5:39 p.m.   The motion was seconded by Commissioner McCallister and it passed unanimously.
